Corvo back to Canes… And I am actually happy about it.
Yep, that’s right I am actually happy about 1 of the signings this year for the Canes. Why is this a surprise? Well, normally when the Canes decide to bring back a former Cane, it’s a terrible deal (See Babchuk, Erik Cole). Sometimes tho it is not, such as today’s re-signing of Joe Corvo (also good re-aquires being Matt Cullen, and Aaron Ward <— You can fight me on that one but it was the right deal at the time no doubt about it).
Not only did the Canes bring Corvo back but they did it for a good price. Two years at 4.5 mil is a fair price for a top 4 D man who has shown to be a credible threat on the PP with a solid slap shot. Sure he missed most of last year but don’t read into that much b/c it was a freak skate cut on the ankle that put him out for so long. He clearly feels comfortable playing here and clearly shined in his year and a half. Good job Rutherford (see I can say positive things about him too!) now keep the ball rolling and get the Canes a couple of forwards for the same price.
WELCOME BACK JOE!
